I went up to Knoxville this weekend, my hometown and also the college where I got my undergrad. When I started at UT we were National Champions.....now, not so much. But I am still a huge fan! My parents have had season tickets since I can remember and there's nothing quite like these seats. I think I grew up in these seats.
A view from our seats. This guy kind of ruined my picture but oh well, I'm sure someone was in front of his picture too.
I sat with the coolest man in the world (except for Darren) my Dad. We had the best time talking and trying not to cry from the loss. After I had the girl in front of us take this picture I of course looked to see if we looked decent and that's when I saw it. The fat girl sitting next to my Dad! Who is this person and why is her arm around my Dad? Does my Dad have another child I don't know about? Oh, no, it's just me. I'm apologizing now for any and all that have to look at me everyday (Coworkers and Darren). If you begin wearing sunglasses so that you aren't forced to look directly at me I understand. As you can see I'm not a Melissa or Nicole (my best friends who are the size of toothpicks). They only gained weight in their bellies when they were pregnant. Not me, my body is an equal opportunity gainer.
Speaking of Nicole, I got to meet up with her and talk for about 4 hours! There are some people that just get you and this is one of them. Melissa, Nicole's twin sister, is the other. I think everyone else on Earth understands parts of me but these two understand the entire Emily mess. Nicole and I were roommates in college. She was actually my first college friend. Shortly after I discovered the awesomeness that was Melissa and pretty much can't go a few days without emailing/texting/calling one or both of them. I guess God thought 1 best friend wasn't enough to handle me, so he split someone in half and gave me 2 amazing best friends. They both have their own blogs, beware, you will get sucked in and become best friends with them too. http://thehughesblog.blogspot.com/ http://thegloverfamilyblog.blogspot.com/ More on these two on a later post. One just doesn't do them justice.
I hate this picture but Nicole hated the picture previous so I'm posting both.
In other news, I have the best husband in the whole world. One day last week I got home from work and there were flowers waiting for me and Darren was cooking dinner. Just because. I'm so lucky. I'm also lucky because this same husband is willing to carry two mortgages so that we can go ahead and move. I got home on Sunday and we went to see a house in Cumming. I fell in love! This house is my dream home.
We walked into the kitchen and I instantly saw myself making cookies with our children, celebrating Thanksgiving with our family, and cooking a big breakfast on Christmas morning. Yes friends I became obsessed with owning this home. I am so worried we won't get it because I want it so badly. We're getting pre approved currently and I'm on pins and needles until we make the official offer. I have to keep telling myself that if we don't get it, it's meant to be. That's what future Emily would say. Current Emily says I want that damn house. Patience has never been a strength of mine. Wow, I'm going to be an amazing Mom! Poor kid.
I think I'm so anxious because everything I've ever wanted is happening. Husband, baby on the way, moving closer to my dream job (I love love love my job) and now possibly the house of my dreams. Life can be pretty great.
One more thing, I felt the baby move yesterday. A tiny flutter. Weirdest/coolest feeling I've ever had! I'm so blessed.

1. You are the best! I totally wanted to put "that is my niece in there!" on my post but thought that might sound weird, bc you look super skinny!!, and people might be confused and not sure where the neice is. So I figure we will save that post for a few weeks when my godmother predictions are confirmed.
ReplyDelete2. I DID NOT know you felt her kick!?!!? Aaaggghhhh!!!
3. I need details on the house as soon as you know anything. Duh.

you look great! now is the time to eat what you want and be fine with gaining weight. enjoy it! plus, i promise that peanut in there will be worth every single pound. i love that melissa and nicole are calling your baby boy or girl based on what their child is. Maybe it's twins, one of each?? ha! That house is amazing!! But you are right, if it doesn't work out I promise something better will come along. We lost our dream house to a higher bid, but somehow found one we liked better for the same price we wanted to pay for the first one. darren sounds so great, you deserve an awesome guy like that. I'm so happy for you!
ReplyDeletealso, i can confirm that you really do not look fat b/c when you were talking about "the fat girl sitting next to your dad" I was seriously looking all over that picture trying to figure out what you were talking about! It took me a while to realize you were talking about yourself b/c you look so good!

ReplyDeleteAlso, I love your new kitchen! Cant wait to see more pictures. I would love to hear more details about the house.
