As I was leaving work yesterday I decided to look up the dream house again. I found that it was already off the market. It felt like someone had punched me in the stomach. I immediately called Darren and he immediately called our real estate agent. The real estate agent let us know it was indeed under contract.
Sometimes I like my long commute home. I of course cried like a 5 year-old for a little bit and then realized I was being a completely spoiled brat and resolved myself to continuing to search for the dream home. This time we would be ready with our preapproval. If we liked something we would make an offer within 12 to 24 hours. I also got a few kicks from the baby on the ride home. I'm pretty sure he/she was telling me that they were way more important than any silly house ever would be.
I got home and Darren had already found 2 other houses that were awesome and he too had the same plan about making offers. While the "dream home" was nice, it wasn't the ONLY house on the market that was potential dream home material. And my husband and baby are the best things that ever happened to me.
I would like to thank Lindsey Doby for puting it in perspective as well. You are so smart! :-)

awww, you are welcome! I can't wait to hear about the "new dream home"! I know you will find it and it will be perfect!
ReplyDeleteLoved talking to you today, as always! It is totally ok to be sad and then feel kind of guilty for being sad. The perfect house is totally out there!
ReplyDeleteI completely understand where you are coming from! I could have written this exact post three months ago. We didnt end up with my "dream" house but a month later found something I am in love with more now! The same thing will happen with you :)
ReplyDeleteI HATE home buying. There is that awful feeling of "is this the house I can picture my family in?" I feel your pain - every house we looked at the last year I was trying to picture Jack in the backyard or at the counter eating breakfast and was so nervous that I wasn't gonna pick the right one. Remember though, no matter what - the house you guys pick will be perfect. And the main reason it will be perfect is because it's the first place you welcomed your little one into the family. Good luck with the home buying process! Can't wait to read more about Baby Hawkins!
