Weight Update

The last time I posted about my weight was in May and I had 26.6lbs to lose. Well friends I am happy to report that as of this morning I have 9.6lbs to go! I'm so proud of myself. I have to admit, it hasn't been a walk in the park.

I went back to work which I thought would be tough for my workouts but I started the 30 day shred, just like I promised back in May.  It was only 20 minutes and very easy to fit into my day. I just got up early and did it. But then I started to get bored. There are 3 levels and by the time I made it to level 3 it just got monotonous. So, my solution, infomercials. I have to admit I'm slightly obsessed with all things infomercial. I don't actually buy into most of them but I love a before and after shot. I happen to love all the kitchen gadgets too but haven't bought any of those.

There were 3 workout DVDs that I was debating about buying.
  1. P90X, I decided against this one only because several people had told me that some workouts can be as long as 1.5 hours. I just don't have that kind of time. Sorry Tony Horton (no relation).
  2. Insanity, this one intrigued me and maybe at some point I may buy it but it's 40 minutes....still a slight time commitment for me. I realize it sounds short but I already get up at 5:30 and sleep is my only vice so no thanks.
  3. Jillian Michaels Body Revolution. 30 minutes a day, 6 days a week, for 90 days. SOLD.
Now, I knew I couldn't do this alone so I enlisted the help of a good friend that I've known since high school, Jennifer Crandall. She is one of the most driven people I know, has 3 awesome kids and was currently doing the 30 day shred like me.

Here's how it works. Every morning after my workout I email her to tell her how I did, how much someone in the video annoyed me, how out of shape I feel, etc. She does the same. Just having someone to be accountable to is so helpful! As Jen said to me not too long ago "yeah, you don't want to be a tool and email me and say I just didn't feel like working out today". She's right. I don't want to be a tool!

We are officially done with weeks 1 and 2 and I feel amazing! I love how fast paced the workouts are. I've dropped 1.5lbs in 2 weeks and also 6.25 inches overall. Next week we kick it up a notch to harder workouts but I have no doubt we will kill it.

There have been a few challenges though. Stella decided this past Friday to wake up at 5:45 screaming bloody murder. So I had to feed her and get her ready for the day and then situate her on her play mat while I worked out. She was mesmerized by Jillian, truly hilarious. I wish I had a picture (I'm awful about pictures if you haven't noticed....I'm trying to get better) The point is I've learned that I CAN fit in exercise, 30 minutes a day, 6 days a week. It's not hard! And, after I'm finished I feel like I accomplished something big! I love lists, I usually have a few going at a time and I love checking off my workout.

So if you're thinking about buying something off an infomercial buy this, it's really good! Well, so far. I might be hobling around next week.

  2. I am so inspired! I literally never exercise and time is the excuse I ues with 2 kids and a full time job. But, you are right. I can do it in the morning and it will make me way happier. Way to go, Emily! Keep it up!

  4. Such a great idea to work out together! My workout plan is that the kids rooms are upstairs and our room is downstairs. Between going up and down the stairs 2354 times a day, its enough for right now. I have no idea what I will do after this baby, but it will be nice to know that I am DONE so I can finally have my body back once and for all :) Proud of you! You are doing awesome!

That's a Real Baby!

Darren and I got to see our little baby this week! He/she is measuring 13 weeks and 1 day and everything looked healthy. This picture cracks me up because the baby looks like it's pouting because we woke it up.  We did though, the tech was pushing on my belly like I do when I'm trying to get into pair of jeans that are too small!  Baby Hawk wouldn't move! Enter the Kashi cereal bar.  I hadn't eaten in nearly 4 hours (the appointment was VERY long) so I ate my Kashi bar that I always keep in my purse for ultrasound emergencies. BOOM, baby Hawk was wiggling and sucking and even looked like he/she was sucking it's thumb! Yes, this is indeed my baby, I go nuts for food too! I do think the profile looks like Darren though. Darren makes this cute pouty face when he's being funny.  So, the mystery is solved, this is Darren's baby. Whew, we were wondering. I'm totally kidding people! This picture is sort of creepy to me but I must share my 3-D picture. I...

To Stella

I thought it would be fun to write a letter to you before I met you. We could read it together later and laugh about how clueless I was about you! Dear Stella, It's Christmas 2011 and I honestly haven't thought at all about the holiday this year.  All I can think about is March, when I get to meet you for the first time.  Your Dad and I went to the hospital this week to check out where you would be born! I thought for sure going to the hospital would make me anxious but instead it made me incredibly excited. What a gift it is to bring someone into the world and because of you I get to experience that.  You have no idea how much you were prayed for, wanted, hoped for, for so many years. I always knew I wanted to be a mother, even back in high school when I worked in a toy store and joked about getting my tubes tied. :-) But, when I found out about YOU I couldn't have been happier.  I remember standing in the bathroom completely convinced that I had willed ...

2012 Highlights

So I'm obviously abandoning my attempt to try to capture every Saturday in Stella's life. I now realize that's impossible. Plus, not everything in the world happens on a Saturday. It's the fun/sad/crazy moments that are the ones you want to remember right? (by sad I mean "my baby's growing up" sniff sniff)  And those usually happen on a random Tuesday or something. So I'm going to attempt in this last post of the year (and some of you may be saying "your only post this year", no I had like 7 okay...ha ha) to remember the BEST moments of my life in 2012. You may want to go pee, eat something and bring a drink back, this sucker's going to be long. Our House January 1st we moved into our house. I love our house. It is seriously a fairytale house and neighborhood where I want my babies to grow up. I have a nightmare once a month that involves us moving, I usually wake up very sad. Odd, yes. Apparently you know you're old when you...
